Chad Kimbler’s first instrument was the violin, which he began at age 6. By the time he was 8, he became the youngest member ever accepted into the West Virginia Youth String Orchestra. At age 13, he became the youngest member of the West Virginia Youth Symphony, a group he would eventually become concertmaster of. He would later attend West Virginia University, where he played principal 2nd violin in the Chad started teaching himself percussion at age 12, playing in numerous junior high/high school bands. As a sophomore at Logan High School, he was selected as drum captain in the marching band. He playing percussion and drum set in the West Virginia All State Band as a junior and senior and was the timpanist for the Sound of America All-American Band European Tour in 1999.
Chad taught from 2006-08 at the Perrysburg School of Music, where he taught over 50 students violin, mandolin, percussion, and guitar. On top of The Student Loan, Chad also continues to play classical and jazz shows. He has played with the Larry Keel All-Star Bluegrass Jam, the Hillbilly Gypsies’ Ty Jaquay, the Fairmont Chamber Music Society, The Firelands Symphony Orchestra, and jazz guitarist Doug Neel. His former teachers include Laura Kobayashi, Penny Kruse, Mairi Thompson, David Langr, and Deirdre Thorn (violin), Roger Schupp (drums), and John Beall, Burton Beerman, and Elainie Lillios (composition).
